“Creating wonderous ARTefacts that strangely feel familiar”
Since I can remember I am walking in "A Dream of Smithsonian". Meaning I search for and am fascinated by nARTural history. I collect skulls, bugs, minerals and fossils since I can pronounce paleontology, poke dead things since I can hold a stick, have an advanced degree in biology and em never not fascinated by every bug, snake, lizard and skull I encounter.
My art is a reflection of that dream. I create ARTefacts and specimens inspired by natural histories, real and imaginary. I want the viewer to reclaim the unadulterated joy with which their 9 year old self looked at the wonderous things that are everywhere around us.
CURRENT WORK
“The Ephemeral of the Eternal”
"Ephemeral of the Eternal" brings together Ken Joye’s “Memento Mori” installation of 60+ carved skulls and my latest adventure in skeletal twigs. Ethereal sculptures combining the fascination of the natural material with the deep personal response the ARTefact elicit.
[It was last shown at the Citadel’s gallery in San Jose]
